![]() It really irks me that the whole movie was revolving around her when all it ended up squeezing is materializing teenage rudeness into a character. I feel like the movie is just so obsessed with this unlikable character and the fact that it rounded up as a love story in the end makes me think that this movie may be sending out a message that maybe the person we love is really a shitty person so it's time to wake up. The plot and the characters literally rationalized the whole situation just to adjust to her and give her that spotlight. All her apologies were from second hand sources and the characters themselves had to individually sort out their own frustrations and pains within themselves to adjust to her and forgive her. The movie doesn't even give her a proper redemption. I even couldn't trace her attitude to her family life, basically because we are only exposed to an inch of it but it can be fairly presumed that it's difficult - given the divorce, displacement and she living alone because she doesn't want to be a burden to her mom's family - but whatever she's going thru can be a reason why she's so stuck up and rude but it's never an excuse to be mean to other people. I know she isn't obliged to be nice to everyone or owes anyone an explanation but cheezus everyone deserve civility and respect and this girl just doesn't have those in her vocabulary. She just do whatever she wants without accounting the people around her and its consequences. She constantly lies and deliberately use other people as a means to her own selfish end. ![]() Her personality is rude and selfish and I can't even find any justification for her action. ugh I'm so lost and could not understand nor stand her. 90% of the movie is just me turning heads over her story. Rikako is an over glorified female protag that I'm filing under the troupe, 'new-girl-transferee-I'm-not-like-other-girls.' I really find her character unlikeable and if that's the point of the movie, sure, it excelled well and if I'm stretching it, making an unlikeable protag can even be a critic that not everyone is nice. Because really? She was rude to everyone and a consistent liar and deliberately used you and you love her? REALLY? Boi got it bad. At that point I think he just have no self respect, or love makes you stupid or maybe he's just stupid. Then in the end, we get to see that he's in love with Rikako that's why he did all of those. Honestly, the only excitement I got was when he slapped Rikako, and that too I felt like too restrained. He left himself be dragged to tokyo, lent money without a second thought, willing to /help/ others even though it's just out of bounce, and let himself get beaten down. Taku is a goody two shoes boy who just couldn't stand up for himself. ![]() I personally didn't like the movie as the characters and the plot just frustrated me.
